14U Legacy All Star Softball - May 2023
LC's 14U All Star Team is announced May 2nd & 1st practice is May 4th
Legacy is made up of five Bombers and eight Raptors
Erin will pitch with Alex's former GS troop mate Haley
Erin will also be a strong bat in the lineup
We will have two tournaments prior to the State Tournament June 16-18
Erin shows off her new white metal spikes for the TXC Tourney May 13-14
Erin's first at-bat Pool Game vs TXC with 1 out, 1 on, batting 3rd
She watches a high & outside ball on a full count and heads to first base
Erin will score on Anastyn's RBI double to take a 2-0 lead
Anastyn will be tagged out at home for the 3rd out to end the 1st
Haley holds the Sting to 2 runs in 2 innings after 2 HBP while Erin gives up 3 walks & single but time runs out with Legacy up 7-4
Legacy had 7 walks, 4 Ks, & 1 hit to Sting's 6 walks, 2 HBP, 1 K & 1 hit
We won the pitchers dual and by agressive base running today
Team waits an hour before playing the next TXC Tourney Pool Game
Erin busts out the beef jerkey to revitalize for the days 2nd game
Families camp out around the ball field and wisely bring canopies
Legacy starts warming up 30 minutes before game time
Erin warms up to start Pool Game Two versus Santa Fe Savage
Erin gives up 3 walks in 4 batters with 1 K and gives up no runs in the 1st
Erin gives up 3 straight hits & 3 walks in the 2nd but only 3 runs
3 caught stealing and 2 strike outs help Erin's low run results
Erin's only at-bat has her hit a soft liner over the shortstop's glove
Erin drives in the 1st run and will later score herself for a 2-0 lead
Legacy settles for a tie after Haley is tagged out at home for the final out
Multiple opportunities to score one more than them came and went
Erin bats 3rd w/no outs in the 1st bracket game against TXC Sting
She hits a fullswing bunt down the 3rd base side and races to 1st
She beats the throw but is left stranded after the next 3 get out, up 1-0
Haley starts and gets 3 outs facing 4 batters, still up 1-0
Erin up, top of 3rd, no outs and Legacy down 2-4
Haley gave up 5 walks for 4 runs bottom of the 2nd
Erin hits a hard grounder to 3rd who fumbles the ball
3rd baseman makes a hurried throw that sails over the 1st baseman
Erin is sent to 2nd but the ball bounces back to 1st who makes the throw
Erin doesn't slide but is out by ten feet, lucky bounce for the defense

Erin pitches the 3rd with Legacy down 2-4 and needs a quick inning
But Erin walks 4 and 5 more runs score before 3 outs are made
Blue calls the game with a minute left and a 7 run deficit
Legacy gives 9 walks to 0 received & TXC Sting wins the bracket game 9-2
Tomorrow's rainout prevents Erin missing the bracket game for Confirmation
Two Sonic Extra Large Chili Cheese Coneys ease the disappointing loss
Tuesday & Thursday practice before continuing the TXC Tourny May 20th
Erin bats 3rd w/2 on in the 8am Bracket Game vs SF Savage on May 20th
Erin hits a weak pop fly to 3rd base who makes the catch
Wednesday is almost doubled off but the 2nd baseman drops the ball
2 more will reach and 3 will score for a 3-0 lead after half a frame
Haley pitches the 1st inning walking 3 and Hitting 2 for 3-5 deficit
Erin up to bat in the 2nd w/1 out, bases loaded & fouls off 2 pitches
Blue rings her up on this pitch with a full count for the 2nd out
It is Erin's first strikeout in 2023 and she can't believe it
Legacy goes ahead 8-5 but Savage scores another 5 in the bottom frame
Legacy goes down in order in the 3rd inning & are eliminated losing 8-10
Probably should have switched pitchers but now all have tourney experience
We will look for another Tourney to play in before the June State Tourney
TXC eliminates SF & Galveston but loses to undefeated Dickinson in the final
