New Roof - July 12-13, 2022
Shingles arrive the morning of Wednesday, July 12th
Dumpster and new materials block the driveway so park in the street
Workers busy stripping off the old shingles since 6:45am
Back of the house is the last to cleared off as of 8:35am
Bright sunny day as the gear on the ground starts to go up on the roof
Had to wait a week as we had our first rain in awhile last week
With the old roof cleared and old decking replaced, underlayment gets underway starting from the garage at 10:30am
Potted plants are covered up and hopefully protected from debris
Better to drop it to the right where there's no landscaping to worry about
What a mess to be cleared up within the next 8 hours
Underlayment helps prevent wind-driven rain from infiltrating the roof
Workers use foam rubber pads to insulate clothing from hot shingles
Bushes do survive being covered up and hit by occasional shingle
New porch matched the old shingles so can't pick a new shingle pattern
Couple boards replaced as the back is readied for underlayment
Fascia boards being replaced above the garage entrance
Underlayment is going strong as of 1pm in the afternoon
Fascia boards being replaced above the front entry room windows
South side of the house is ready for shingles to be applied
North side of the house is as well with some pipe support requested
Fascia boards being replaced above the master bedroom
Back of house ready for shingles with February porch addition already done
GAF Shingles are well underway as of 5pm
Crew winding down at 8pm and will have to return tomorrow to finish
Most of the debris has been cleared and equipment stowed
Chimney, garage entry and back door entry boards also to be replaced
Workers find a stopping point as the sun starts to set at 8:30pm
Starting before 7am and pretty much done in the back by 10:30am
Workers finishing adding the hip and ridge cap shingles to the top edges
Christian of Lucid Services oversees the painting of the ventilation fan
Final touches are completed at 11:45am
Walk the perimeter of the house to view the finished product, looks great

24 year old boards removed from the chimney have been replaced
