San Jacinto Co. Courthouse - Dec. 26, 2017

Visit San Jacinto County's second courthouse built in 1917 in the town of Coldspring, Texas; Fire destroyed the 1871 courthouse in 1915

Walk to the northwest corner at Church St. & Byrd Ave. to view the gazebo

View the north side of the courthouse from Byrd Avenue

Built in the Classical Revival style with Corinthian columns

Looking at the east side of the courthouse from Butler Street

Continue around to the southeast corner of the courthouse

The other narrow end on the south side as viewed from Cedar Avenue

Continue back to the main and west side where monuments are displayed

Including one to MSGT Lilley MIA in North Korea, 1950

No CSA monuments but do find a nativity scene on the courthouse grounds

Coldspring relocated this new courthouse ¼ mile SW to higher ground

They've stuck with the 3rd name, Coldspring, for 167 years thus far

Wood was one of the first governors of the state of Texas
