Two Week Cruise - Oct. 27 to Nov. 11, 2018

Take the 70 mile trip from Aruba to Curacao and arrive at the next Dutch Territory on the morning of Friday, November 2nd

Aruba & Curaçao are autonomous, self-governing constituent countries

Yet both are still part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

Willemstad, the capital city of Curaçao, is pretty and colorful

The city properly welcomes Virginia to the island

Look back at the Carnival Freedom as we await out tour bus

Interesting inlet as we make our way to the tour bus pickup location

Pose with a cannon outside the cruise terminal

Leo and Virginia pose with the Willemstad harbor in the background

Jerry and Kathy having a great time while waiting for the tour bus

Leo wants a hug too, this is fun!

Kathy hands the camera to Virginia and gets back in the shot

Back to Kathy to include Virginia, smile everyone

Finally board our tour bus and head off toward adventure

We head to the Shete Boka National Park and pass by the salt flats of St. Marie Bay where the wild flamingoes reside

The area is a flamingo sanctuary and the birds take full advantage

They taste like chicken but the legs aren't as meaty

Continue on toward our first destination

Overlook of Kenepa Beach known as Kleine Knip in Dutch

Snorkelers look for fish among the rocks

Bon Bini (welcome) to Playa Kenepa Grandi

Walk the trail to visit one of the park's bokas (inlets)

Behold, Boka Tabla, which has a cavern accessible at low tide

We will take a hard pass on visiting that cavern today!

Watch the waves hit the rugged coast from the wooden viewing platform at Boka Tabla

Shete Boka means Seven Inlets of which four have viewing platforms

Walk the path back to the tour bus & our next stop, the Tula Museum

Cactus fences are popular among the ABC islands

The Tula Museum is the site of a 1795 slave uprising, brutally suppressed

The musuem shows how slaves lived and worked back in those times

The oven, separate from the house, loaded with wood & ready for cooking

Examples of clothing inside the Kunuku (plantation) house

Tula, a slave, led the revolt, was captured, tortured & executed (w/cactus?)

Pass the Willemstad Infinity Pool Bar & Grill on the way back to the ship
