Visit Eisenhower's boyhood home

David & David want to know if David can come out to play

Ike's mom Ida lived in the home until her death in 1946

It has been open for tours since 1947

I like Ike!

"Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force: You are about to embark upon the great crusade"

"The quest for peace is the statesman's most exacting duty ... practical progress to lasting peace is his fondest hope."

The panels around the Eisenhower statue have the following sides: Supreme Commander Allied Expeditionary Forces, General of the Army, Chief of Staff US Army, Supreme Commander Europe, & 34th President of the United States

Five pylons stand in the rear with the flagpole,
each with a quote found here

The Place of Meditation is the final resting place of
Dwight David Eisenhower

It is made of native limestone, Arabian Travertine marble,
and chipped glass windows

Mamie Geneva Doud Eisenhower and their first-born
son, Doud Dwight Eisenhower also rest here

There are Eisenhower quotations upon the walls and a meditation portion of the building for visitors to reflect upon the ideals that made this a great nation and pledge themselves again to continued loyalty to those ideals

Mamie Geneva Doud Eisenhower: Nov 14, 1896 - Nov 1, '79

Son, Doud Dwight Eisenhower: Sep 23, 1917 - Jan 2, 1921

Dwight David Eisenhower: Oct 14, 1890 - Mar 28, 1969

"Humility must always be the portion of any man who receives acclaim earned in blood of his followers and sacrifices of his friends"

"The real fire within the builders of America was faith -- faith in a Provident God whose hand supported and guided them: faith in themselves as the children of God ... faith in their country and its principles that proclaimed man's right to freedom and justice."
